UPM Putra Paintball Park Opening Ceremony

The sport of Paintball has revived the national sport after the extreme sport was stopped following the issue of the previous firearms act. After the paintball marker decision was not regulated under the Weapons Act 1990 it certainly gave relief to those extreme sports fans to get back active. The opportunity was taken advantage of by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) which launched a paintball court in their campus area in Serdang.

Putra Paintball Park Field, which according to international specifications, is located next to College of Pendeta Za’ba with an estimated construction cost of up to RM20,000 which started construction in January and was completed in mid-August. UPM Deputy Vice Chancellor for Student and Alumni Affairs Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman said apart from being used as a recreational activity in paintball sports, it will also be used as a recreational subject with a credit co-curriculum. "I am sure this sport can strengthen the relationship between students but also can have a positive impact in terms of programs that will be implemented by the Sports Center or Student Affairs Division.

Paintball is a strategic sport that requires critical thinking and also group work, said Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan at the opening ceremony. In conjunction with the inauguration of this field, UPM also launched a paintball club called Putra Vanguard. The sport of paintball will revitalize extreme sports in Malaysia on the initiative of UPM to provide international standard facilities that will benefit UPM students and even open to the public starting next year.
